The movie is about 8 fighters that are all prisoners from maximum-security prisons around the world. A very powerful gambling syndicate has brought them all together to put on a show and be featured in a contest that pits each man against the other in a survival of the fittest competition. The supposed prize is freedom for the one man who can make it through the tournament, but considering the fact we’re dealing with a gambling syndicate here their intention’s weren’t to let anyone walk free.

Scott Adkins (who played Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) returns as Boyka in an amazing display of martial arts mastery. With the odds against him overwhelming, Boyka will take on the syndicate his way. If the gamble he himself is willing to take works, his plan may just take down the syndicate and foil all their twisted plans. Another known martial arts actor Marko Zarror who plays Mandrill also is featured in the film and another combatant in the Ukraine prison-fighting tournament.

It doesn’t take long into the film to realize why this movie won both Best Director (Isaac Florentine) and Best Fight Choreography (Larnell Stoval) at Action Fest 2010. The combat scenes and martial arts featured are a great balance in a film that remains exciting and enjoyable throughout its 96 minutes.

I haven’t seen the first 2 Undisputed films but it is safe to say that Undisputed III: Redemption is worth watching for any MMA fan or martial arts fan. I’m a die hard MMA fan and at times wonder about MMA being featured in films but unlike some of the other films I have seen featuring mixed martial arts, Undisputed III is a very enjoyable movie. Not to mention the fact that MMA being featured in movies helps grow the sport that many of us keep so near and dear to our heart.
